-
We welcome you into the world of nature connection and ecotherapy with foundational Earth-honoring practices. We explore the modern fields of ecopsychology and ecotherapy, their relationship to Indigenous land-based knowledge, and the question at the heart of this work: what connects us to the natural world and what separates us from it?
-
We deepen our understanding of what makes EBI's approach distinctive- the integration of somatic psychology, ecopsychology, and social justice.
-
We explore the science of nature connection, including nervous system regulation, attention restoration, and the emerging literature on climate emotions We also ask the harder question: why does our healing matter to the Earth?
-
We close not with an ending but a beginning. Drawing on Joanna Macy's framework of going forth, we send you out with ongoing practices, the science and practice of awe, and honest information about EBI's certificate program for those called to go deeper.
We learn in community
After your self-paced introductory course, all of our programs are cohort based.
shared experience makes room for safety, honesty, and OPENLY EXPLORING a shared dream for the world.
Are you experimenting with meeting clients outdoors, and ready for professional training to practice confidently?
In level 1, we cultivate dedicated containers for our BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ community in addition to our All-Are-Welcome cohort.
-
This BIPOC-specific Level 1 cohort is grounded in personal and ancestral relationship with land and the natural world. Together, we examine the social, economic, and environmental factors shaping ecotherapy practice for communities of color, and explore the dynamics of cultural and ecological exploitation within the context of colonialism.
The training makes space for deep listening and inquiry with one another and with the land itself. On the practical side, you'll learn to assess whether a location is appropriate for outdoor work, and you'll begin naming your own gifts and passions as you find your place in this field.
-
This cohort holds the indigeneity of queerness in the natural world, honoring queer history reaching back through pre-modernity, and the special roles queer folks have held as shamans, priests, and spiritual guides across indigenous societies. Nature connection practices are examined specifically for how they relate to LGBTQIA2S+ experience.
This class attends closely to safety for queer folks in group settings, and facilitation skills include queer-informed approaches. Each participant leaves with a personalized, consistent nature practice, with attention to physical health along the way.
-
This Level 1 cohort covers the full foundation in a mixed group setting. You'll explore how we are nature and part of nature, and how individual health is inextricably connected to the health of all beings on Earth. The training introduces The Work That Reconnects as an expanded framework for attending to client depression, anxiety, and grief, and for supporting a shift toward hope and activism.
You'll also examine settler colonialism, including how to avoid perpetuating it and how to avoid cultural appropriation, alongside a respectful, relational protocol for acknowledging the indigenous people of the land. Rounding out the training are indoor and telehealth practices, as well as the practical, legal, and ethical issues involved in outdoor sessions.

“This program has true holistic integrity. The teachings, the teachers, the venue and even the food were all in alignment with healthy eco-consciousness. There was a fabulous balance of practical and sacred approaches to ecotherapy both from a personal and clinical perspective. The curriculum was applicable to those who are newly acquainted to the natural world and also to those who have an abiding devotion to ecotherapy. I highly recommend this program for individual and collective evolution as a practitioner and as a human on this planet, at this time.”
