Marriage & Family Therapist, Ecotherapist
Bio
As a gay man from the rural South, I've been organizing and providing services in LGBTQ+ communities for nearly two decades. Prior to my education and training as a therapist, I co-directed the 2009 National Equality March on Washington and co-founded GetEQUAL, a national activist organization that held elected leaders accountable for broken promises on LGBTQ+ rights. I completed my MA in Integral Counseling Psychology at CIIS in 2013, and I am currently a PhD student at Saybrook University studying Psychology with a specialization in Consciousness, Spirituality, and Integrative Health.

Throughout my whole life, my connection with nature has been an important part of my spirituality and self-care. When I began my education as a therapist, I dreamed of bringing people outdoors as a resource for their healing and personal growth. I participated in The Earthbody Institute's Online Ecotherapy Certificate (Level I) program in 2017 to help me prepare for the legal, ethical, and clinical considerations involved in bringing clients outdoors safely. Since then, I have been bringing therapy clients outdoors for sessions in the East Bay Regional Parks.

My husband and I enjoy birding as a hobby, and we get outdoors for hiking or kayaking most weekends. Currently, I run a full-time private practice with offices in San Francisco and at the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center. I am also adjunct faculty in the MFT graduate program at the University of San Francisco.
Services Summary

My approach to psychotherapy is based in mindfulness and acceptance. I use an approach called Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, which promotes flexibility and personal growth through mindful contact with your experience and building a meaningful life through clarifying and acting on your personal values. My goal is to help you get to know yourself better from the inside-out and to build on your inner strengths and resources. In addition to my indoor services in SF and Oakland, I offer ecotherapy sessions at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland on Friday mornings. Please visit my website to learn more, or email me directly to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

Psychologist and Psychotherapist
Bio
I currently have a private practice working with adults and a focus on the LGBTQ community. I have a background in university/college counseling settings and working with adolescents both in therapeutic settings and through athletics.

In my own life and in my work with clients I have found that the natural world can be a source of solace, joy, and healing, when we allow ourselves to fully engage and connect with it. I also address and integrate issues of social justice and oppression, and explore with clients how they are impacted by both marginalized and privileged identities. I love supporting clients in exploring ways to be more actively engaged in human and the more than human community around them.
Services Summary

I offer individual therapy services at my office, virtually, and in outdoor settings near my office or at local parks in the Seattle area.
My therapeutic approach draws primarily from gestalt therapy, humanistic therapy, Somatic Experiencing, other mindfulness-based approaches, and ecotherapy.
I also have a background in The Work That Reconnects as a community member and facilitator, and periodically offer WTR workshops or group therapy experiences.

MA Ecopsychology, RYT 200
Bio
Having spent most of her life on the windward side of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, Lizabeth is passionate about protecting Hawaiʻi's rare and endangered plants and animals. She began her conservation career in 1995 when was hired as a zoological intern at The Nature Conservancy of Hawaiʻi while obtaining her B.A. in Zoology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In 1997 she began working for the NOAA PIFSC/JIMAR Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program and spent several months living and working in the remote Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, now Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument and a World Heritage Site. Inspired by her full immersion into nature and solitude while living and working there, she obtained a M.A. in Ecopsychology at Naropa University in 2012. She is also a facilitator of Joanna Macyʻs The Work That Reconnects (WTR) and trained with Jonathan Gustin of the Purpose Guide Institute as a level I Purpose Guide. She also holds an Ecotherapy Certification with the Earthbody Institute.

In her free time she enjoys the ocean, hiking, horseback riding, dancing, reading, singing, and restoring native forests in the Hawaiian Islands. She also serves on the board of Radical Joy For Hard Times and Kure Atoll Conservancy, a 501c3 non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting habitat restoration and wildlife management programs at Kure Atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Archipelago, one of her favorite places on Earth. Lizabeth currently resides in Honolulu, but she yearns to return to her home on the windard side of Oʻahu someday.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Bio
Mary has over 30 years experience in the counseling field with a private practice in Royal Palm Beach Florida. She treats adults and couples as well as offering experiential classes and workshops. Mary leads retreats in nature and offers individual sessions in nature. She is also a Reiki Master offering healing sessions in nature and a monthly reiki circle.
Services Summary

Allow Nature to be a co-therapist in your healing and growth journey. By taking our session outdoors, we allow the healing properties of nature to assist in meeting your needs. The elements, plant and animal life enhance the process by offering symbolic meaning and intuitive messages to guide and heal. Meet me at the beach, park or the forest. Let the natural world welcome you and bring you what you need to see, feel or hear. Research is showing the positive benefits of nature in treating depression and anxiety.
Ecotherapy outdoor workshops allow you to meet with other nature lovers to experience the gifts of nature and gain insights and direction. Outdoor group activities are designed to give you an experience that only Nature can create. Practice mindfulness, learn about Native American symbols and see how to deeply connect with nature and yourself . I am inspired to create retreats in nature that inspire people to ‘break away’ from their daily lives and create ‘breakthroughs’ in consciousness as they connect more with their spiritual nature. These four day retreats are usually held in Florida, Tennessee, Colorado or California. I am inspired to lead retreats in sacred places all over the world.
